waiting for the spark

she was so patient with him –
he was not her first choice,
but a wise one, so she waited
for the spark to ignite a deep
passion to carry her through
the years – but it never came
because some things
can never be forced

- Written for dVerse Quadrille #19 where we had to incorporate the word "spark" in a poem of exactly 44 lines.  Feel free to join in on the fun.

  1. Awwwww. This is so sad...and makes me wonder if he felt the same way, or was an unrequited tragedy.

  5. This so tragic.. and I guess it will be without spark... a small warmth at best... yet it's hard to burn as well.

  6. So sad. A counterpoint to my poem...and I think that is one of the beauties of poetry is that so many sides of the same issue are expressed by different poets.

  8. Sometimes the steady flame is okay--it lasts so much longer than the spark and is less likely to go out. From my perspective (an older one) love does grow through the years.

  9. Although with flint one might be able to force a spark, it is not as easy with people.

  11. Chemistry..
    the pArt
    of human
    that is god given
    as nature and feels
    what's correct
    innately..
    instinctually..
    and intuitively
    for what works best..
    logic..
    often
    a friend
    of misery and pain..
    wHeRE Love fails to reign..
    and that's why
    societies
    that fail
    to free
    spiral
    down
    away
    from imagination
    and creativity as well
    as producing something
    new and greater than before..
    it stARts
    with
    Chemistry
    as God given Nature..
    inheritance.. a gift of Free..:)
