insomnia

in the quiet darkness of my bedroom
I find myself lying in bed staring
at the ceiling counting imaginary sheep

my mind continues to turn and turn
with thoughts speeding by
I close my eyes willing sleep to come
but she always arrives late

  6. Another poem that resonates, Maria! I know that insomnia, although I can go to sleep; it’s just that I keep waking up and have trouble getting back to sleep. I agree with Stew,

  8. Great poem, Maria! I started taking magnesium (Calm) at bedtime, and I sleep like a baby.

  10. Thoughts racing are the worst. Especially when you can’t sleep.
