in hibernation

when the days are cold, and the nights colder,
all I want is to hibernate in my home
let me slumber under thick blankets
or lounge on the sofa under soft throws
sipping hot cocoa, away from the frigid
snow that covers the ground

- Written for dVerse Quadrille #238 the last one for the year.

gathering

I want to gather
the warm memories
scattered across grass

let me bind them
into photo albums
to remember these days

let us watch another
sunset before darkness
burst the seams

- Written for dVerse Poetics: Come Sew With Me.  I used the terms "gather" and "seams".  I also borrowed "bind" from "binding".

enough

I think I had enough of
life’s noise and chaos
I have zero cares to give
to everyone’s causes

I just want to lounge in peace
dreaming of moon and stardust
I want to savor the autumn leaves
and warm sunsets before the end

a love story

one glance was all it took
two hearts to beat together
three nights we spent in paradise
four months this love became gold
five years passed us by quickly
six weeks we saw the sky fall
seven hours our shouts filled rooms
eight memories were all you left me
nine love songs keep me up at night

bombshell

she was the nerdy girl
who didn’t dress in style
he was the popular guy
who all the girls love

of course, he would coax
her from her shell, revealing
her beauty to all, but she was
already a bombshell
before catching his eyes

- Combining two prompts for this poem:  dVerse Quadrille #236 (Word: coax) and Writer's Digest 2025 November PAD Day 17 (Trope poem - Romantic trope: different worlds)

in November

November
tumbling autumn leaves
cobalt sky
we linger
stretching out the time we have
before darkness falls

whirling

the world and life
has my head whirling
trying to find balance
in this topsy-turvy time

when your eyes cannot
decipher truth from lies
you find your hands
grasping for something
solid and calm

I watch autumn sun wane
as we fall into darkness
