Trio of triolets:

“love stains”

she was in love with the wrong man
let caution fly into the wind
the end results were never planned
she was in love with the wrong man
leaving engraved stains on her hands
always reminded of her sin
she was in love with the wrong man
let caution fly into the wind

“lipstick stain”

she saw the lipstick stain and knew
she had lost him to someone else
and his words of love were not true
she saw the lipstick stain and knew
their love affair was all but through
slowly her heart began to melt
she saw the lipstick stain and knew
she had lost him to someone else

“teen angst”

he grew tired of their harsh stares
and painted his soul in stained glass
but it did not end the nightmares
he grew tired of their harsh stares
judgmental looks he couldn’t bear
he prayed the days would quickly pass
he grew tired of their harsh stares
and painted his soul in stained glass

Poem for the day:

"forever"

forever
is the word he said
on how long he would love me
forever
is a long time I said
asking if he was so certain
forever
is what he wanted
to have me in his life
forever
a word that sounded good
to my heart, I cannot life
forever
a promise made by another
I’ve been down this road before
forever
is what he wants to give me
who am I to turn that away

Poem for today: to reveal secrets

"to reveal secrets"

I wish I could tell him
my darkest secrets within
break my shell wide open
and let him deep inside

but a part of me resists
to open that Pandora’s box
fear of inflicting harm
keeping me in the shadows

one day he will pull me out
from under the tree’s shades
he will ask me those questions
that I don’t have answers to

Two poems for today:

“déjà vu again”

he had said those big words I love you
in my heart I knew it was true
after a while I said them back
and our future lives were in clear view

then betrayal turned it all to black
my heart was broken, my soul sacked
darkness tightly wrapped my heart in ice
eventually my face showed its cracks

but time heals all wounds, but with a price
and now a brand new one has enticed
me to believe in those words again
but my mind hesitates and thinks twice

“a fleeting moment”

we exchanged flirtatious lines
and we both knew the clear signs
on where this all would lead to
perhaps it was fate’s design

and at that time I saw you
in a whole different light
hidden feelings were renewed
thought this might be a breakthrough

yet after that fleeting night
you drifted out of my light
we returned to old routines
back to my place, out of sight

Poem for today:

"words"

in so many words
we try to say the things
in our hearts
but sometimes the words
get in the way or
get tangled in
muddled definitions
sometimes we do not
need the right words
but just show what
lies within your heart

“I dared to believe” (re-written)

I dared to believe you
and that your words were true
you wouldn’t break my heart
leaving me cold and blue

but still there was a part
questioning from the start
I conjured up bad thoughts
this will too fall apart

for once may be I ought
to let go – take the plunge
let our hearts reach across
seas – let myself get caught

Poem for today:

“heartbreaker”

he collected tears in jars
in trophy cases, he placed hearts
of every girl he strung along
with a handsome smile and a song

he had his methods perfected
any offers of love, he rejected
but truthfully, he was so broken
all he could do was gather tokens

to toss aside when used up
but eventually he was struck
by the potion of cupid’s arrow
but he couldn’t escape his shadows

for she knew all about his past
didn’t think their love would last
but everyday he tried his best
to put his old ways down to rest
