Every Spring I come out

and lay flowers on graves 

for Mother’s Day

I have done it for so long

that I have lost track of
the number of years

that have gone by

I’m sure the flowers

are not as lovely

as the ones before

yet I keep up the vigil

and soon I will add names 

to my flower list

for Mother’s Day
