pennies in jar sat on
the bookshelf for years
no one can even remember
when the collection started
we took those pennies
to the coin machine and
surprised at the amount
we buy ourselves a treat
at the coffee house
enjoying the summer sun
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #205: A Jar Full of Poems

ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that. Thanks Cris.
DeleteYour pennies in a jar brought back memories of the coins my grandmother saved up all year to take us on a day out at the seaside. They paid for the coach trip, the fish and chips and ice cream, and several goes in the arcade. Thank you, Maria, I needed happy thoughts on a sad day.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad my poem brought you good memories. Thank you.
