love versus fate

beautiful eyes

like a golden dawn

lingers in his dreams

for so long

silver smiles

was a love call

to her yearning heart

from the start

fate’s sentinel

watches from afar

cuts the lines clean

with no regard

love confessions, surprise gifts,
and candlelit dinners
 
for others Valentine’s had
no red roses, heart-shaped
candy boxes or love letters
 
not a holiday for a single girl

morning kisses

his brilliant smile
was my morning kiss
his baby blue eyes
deep like oceans
overtake my senses
I get lost in kisses
and vivid daydreams 
the hours slip away
until nightfall arrives

-   This is the last post for 2020.  What a year!  I decided to go with a love poem.  Love is something we all can use more of these days.   Wishing everyone a peaceful and prosperous 2021.

charm

charm me with
your enchanting eyes
let me drink in
your gentle smile
 
allow my perfume
to envelope you
my kisses heal
your open wounds
 
promise me
you will stay
I promise you
I won’t go away

I touch stars

lift the sun

to blue skies

your love song

makes us dance

day and night

love was for children

I wanted to believe each word

but my heart wouldn’t let me see

I knew then

this affair

would be my

undoing

still I took

the leap with

open eyes

across the room

you stand

a light among

dark shadows

I reach out

to touch

the soft strands

of your hair

you disappear

like a ghost

through fingers

a cold mist

it was a dream

stuck in heart

so please don’t

ever awake me

treading

we tread the waters

as if we’re frighten

one missed step will

lead to our doom

when did love get

so complicated?

I write poem about

the moon and stars

love as the sun

on a summer day

if only love was 

just so simple

winter evening skies

can be beautiful

yet can be as cold

as a broken heart

perhaps love wasn’t

meant to be simple

moonlight

it was

young love

shared kisses

under moonlight

the softness

of lips

upon mine

brought bliss

even after

years passed

no longer

your favorite

memories of

your eyes

in moonlight

remains clear

back and forth

two steps forward

three steps back

it is a slow dance

I find myself in

way too often

the color of the

sky at dusk

makes me hunger

for your eyes

lying beside me

but this tango

we’ve been dancing

never ceases

always leaving me

with two left feet

in my dreams we

are a perfect harmony

one day I’ll need to 

let such dreams go

but not this night

his name

his name could bring

a plethora of emotions

to my heart and

melodies to my feet

if only he knew what

sway he had over me

perhaps he would have

taken a chance

to shoot his shot

but we were both

too shy and unable

to name this thing

that stood between us

it was like magic

it was like magic

when our eyes met

the loudness of life

diminished into whispers

and I was head over

heels in love

but like magic it only

happens occasionally

never staying long

enough to take root

like sycamore trees

in deep green forests

I wish I had bottled

that magic potion

to keep at my bedside

to remember what

we once had before

the magic disappeared

eyes pulling me in

it was your

eyes pulling

me into

deep oceans

of sea blue

never to

see the sun’s

light again

I have no

regrets in

falling for

those dark eyes

lost and found

I was lost

in a sea

filled with fear

mixed with doom

with no hope

I closed my

eyes praying

for release

I was found

by your arms

gave me hope

once again

I get lost

I get lost

in daydreams

when I want

to escape

the chaos 

of daily life

I only wish

I could get

lost in you

all day and night

making this life

a bit sweeter

first kiss, second kiss

the first time

was a hurried thing

lips clashed against

one another like

waves upon rocks

but the second time

was much better

the electric touch of

your lips upon mine

made it all better

I miss romance

I miss romance

the “just because” flowers

countless “I love you” texts

and late night conversations

you don’t know what you have

until it slips from your hands

maybe it will return some day

or maybe it was just a dream

that I have awaken from
