twist of emotions
her emotions
had her insides
all twisted
he denied
holding feelings
inside his heart
in this circle
they go round
and round
not saying
what is needed
avoiding truths

uneven time
I look at the calendar asking
where the time has gone
it seems like yesterday was Spring
but today it’s Summer and soon
as tomorrow it will be Autumn
yet every day at the office
the hands on the wall clock
move in such slow formation
my hour of freedom appearing
so far away

as I turn the pages of my life
I turn the pages of my life
eyes growing teary thinking
of ones now gone
at times my heart quickens
remembering the good times
my hands tremble in anticipation
of what is to come

spells
she would read books
on how to cast love spells
to lure her crush in
but she didn’t have the nerve
to place trinkets at the house
or had a rose garden
to run through naked
instead, she wrote love
poems to the moon

in bleached silence
in bleached silence
we pick up the pieces
promising to do better
only for those pledges
to fall through the cracks
to rise once more when
the bloodshed returns

from across the room
our eyes connected across the room
the crowd not even in our view
my eyes browse your handsome face
for a moment I felt my heart beat again
as your feet carried you over the throng
I sipped wine hoping this isn’t a dream

dream bin
she places her dreams
in a bin beside her bed
so they can be waiting
for her at bedtime
chasing away the blues
and horrors that assault
her eyes and ears each day
