as I stood in the checkout line

she stood in front of me
in the long self-checkout line
she wore White Diamonds perfume
with salt and pepper hair not dyed
like other ladies her age
as I stood there, I wondered will I
have the boldness to go all gray too

wolf in sheep's clothing

he had eyes like stars
with sweet whispers he ensnared
many hearts with lies

mirror

she grew to despise mirrors
reflecting all her flaws
and imperfections that she
desperately want to erase

she hid from them so they
could not catch her passing by

if only she could see her
beatify was greater than
the numbers on a scale

since you been gone

"Full Moon Service" by Erik Johannson.

we used to love the night sky
singing poetic lines to the moon
but after you departed my life
it didn’t seem the same at all

I’ve spent many nights collecting
moons to replenish the dark sky
but despite my best efforts
it still wasn’t the same at all

to find my travel muse again

I had plans to travel
across the world’s map
but a pandemic threw a
curveball in that itinerary

now I’m trying to recapture
that wanderlust for travel
but I’m finding it is not
easy pulling my feet out
of the mud to roam free
