morning hellos

I open my eyes to a sky
colored by a rising sun
I listen to birds serenade
my ears with a song
I feel the kisses of the
morning against my skin
luring me out of a warm
bed I don’t wish to depart

earth air fire water

I.

earth beneath our feet
down winding roads we travel
leading us all home

II.

air flows through our hair
on summer road getaways
feeling young again

III.

fire consuming all
barren path where trees once stood
smoke hinders our sight

IV.

cool ocean waters
our bodies float with currents
under clear blue sky

what's your type?

to break the ice
we ask each other
our likes –
what type of music
do you enjoy?
are you into sports?
have you traveled
to many places?
going through the
motions trying to get
a feel of someone’s vibe
can be a hit or miss

a summer day in August

under August sun
flavored ice-crusted snow cones
cools off our parched tongues
we enjoy the ocean view
until dusk whispers our names
