north, south, east, west

under the north star
she guides souls to freedom
cloaked by night’s darkness

in the south of France
they enjoy sipping red wine
under skies of blue

as the east wind blows
the clouds above turn to black
storm makes her approach

along the west coast
we watch colorful sunsets
the moon greets our eyes

charm

charm me with
your enchanting eyes
let me drink in
your gentle smile

allow my perfume
to envelope you
my kisses heal
your open wounds

promise me
you will stay
I promise you
I won’t go away

directions

I.
the north star
our guiding light
to freedom’s road

II.
down 95 south
driving our way to
memorable vacations

III.
rising from the east
we watch the sun
bless us with beauty

IV.
I look to the west
trying to hold on
to remaining daylight

I am

I am
the daffodil
dancing in the breeze

I am
the rain drops
falling from clouds
on gloomy afternoons

I am
the caramel syrup
with whipped cream
topping your iced coffee
giving it its sweet taste

I am
the blue dress
hanging in the closet
waiting for the day
to be picked and
worn out once again

I am
the woman looking
in the rearview mirror
at the young couple
behind her in a loving
embrace wondering
her own what-ifs

Although this poem does not necessarily meet the prompt's requirements,  this piece was inspired by the "I am" phrase.

blue

along the sea
under blue skies
we count clouds
floating by us
sun kisses skin
breezes cool us
when sun sets
we take turns
counting the stars
amusing the moon
I only wish
this was real
not a dream
that always end
upon morning

where you are

where you are
where I wish
I could be

but dark clouds
keeps us separated
on opposite paths

upon a time
one could cross
rivers without cares

now danger lurks
in the air
waiting to pounce

instead we wave
our hellos exchanged
from far away

where you are
where I dream
to be eventually

don't cry

tears burn behind brown eyes
how I wish I could release them
let them cascade down my face
like rushing streams from waterfalls
but I was taught to be a big girl
and big girls don’t get too emotional
I hold back tears screaming to be free
instead I let them dry out inside me

dancing in moonlight

dancing in moonlight
our feet step, hips move to beats
we kiss under stars
moon's glow reflects in your eyes
I knew I would fall in love
