bells like clear vowels

a whisper in the wind
calls out my name
pulling me out of dreams

far off I hear bells chime
singing in clear vowels
leading me into sunlight

my eyes greet cobalt sky
that was once dark gray
now shines like diamonds

- Written for Twiglet #318.  I admit that this prompt had me stumped.  I didn't now which way to go, but I really like the phrase.  I decided to make it the title of the poem and go a bit abstract.  Let me know what you think.

shift

he felt the earth
shift beneath his feet
when the sun rose the
day after the goodbye

he had spent all night
drinking whiskey with
the moon singing sad
love songs with the stars

he wished he could believe
things get better in time

while waiting for the bus

they standing at the end of
the driveway, that has been
beaten down by raindrops
waiting for the school bus
to arrive

their neighbor drives by in
his brand new Tesla as they
huddle under umbrellas
at last the school bus
comes into view

a last gasp

I hear the birds chirping
and flowers trying to
burst through the ground
people ready to shred
their heavy coats to enjoy
the warm sunshine

from the shadowy corner
winter makes her last gasp
sending chilly air before
she must pass over her crown
