the closing embrace

two lovers in an embrace
the conductor calls for
everyone to board the train
perhaps that embrace
is the closing chapter
and the tears in her eyes
are her parting words

dalliance

it was a short affair, like a summer season
it passed by so quickly we didn’t realize
that the clock had struck midnight
and we had to depart on separate paths –
back to the lives we briefly escaped
while lying in each other’s arms

running around

I am running around everywhere
at home, at the office and store
to gather up my thoughts
keep myself ahead of the game
I wish I could leave this rat race
behind, to sit in complete silence
by a lake and think about nothing

black thread

I shouldn’t have pulled on
that piece of black thread
but I was in a rush and didn’t
think of the consequences
so I pulled on it and slowly
everything unraveled
now I sit here mending
the pieces of my life
back together again

at dusk

it was at dusk
that I waited
on bated breath
for you to arrive
and give me
your immortal kiss
I waited for the sun
to leave the sky
for moon to shine
through my window
I wait and hope
that you will come
and take me into
your cold arms
for eternity

among cherry blossoms

among cherry blossoms we walked in silence
neither one of us had the courage to say
what we held inside our hearts
I wish I could have that day back
I would have said the words that laid
like heavy stones within instead of
letting them slowly drown me in regret

Battle of Self-Acceptance

the battle to accept who I am
is a struggle I have dealt with
since becoming aware of my looks
I try hard not to judge myself
based on how my jeans zip up
but the world’s distorted ideals
always creep into my head

stop

sometimes we need to stop
take in the scenery
and remember how beautiful
life can be

but life is a nonstop train
that keeps moving along
even when we want to stop
for a moment

when Spring is late

my roses struggle to bloom
for winter has Spring entombed
tell me the sun will return
its warmth is what I now yearn
