when young they were the
keeper of the night’s flame
dancing under disco lights
the deep base vibrating
under feet
tossing aside their burdens
they partied until sunrise
with no thoughts of when
the night will come when
flashing lights won’t hold
such sway

Ohhhh, boy. Been there. Thankful to be older and (somewhat) wiser now. ;)
ReplyDeletemos def been there dancing to that bass...all night! Fun write.
ReplyDeleteSo true. At my age, the flashing lights are the ambulance coming!! lol
ReplyDeleteThose disco lights were fun, ha.
ReplyDeleteKeeper's of the night, dancing can still be fun no matter the age, staying out all night might be another story.
ReplyDeletehaha
You have described my 70’s reality quite accurately Arcadia... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI was never much of a disco girl, but I can understand the attraction of the lights and the vibrating bass. I’ve had my fair share of blue flashing lights, though. I’m still an early to be, early to rise girl.
ReplyDeleteNice description: "keeper of the night’s flame"
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone
ReplyDeleteYou describe the carelessness and free spirited time of youth so beautifully here!❤️
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be able to dance that late anymore... these days sleep is too precious
ReplyDeleteI remember those days only too well :-)
