my mind drifts back to dreams
where I have the power to overcome
reality always pulls me back in
my soul lingers between light and dark
I try to find the space where I fit
it seems I never have enough time
my mind drifts back to dreams
where I have the power to overcome
reality always pulls me back in
my soul lingers between light and dark
I try to find the space where I fit
it seems I never have enough time
you and I
two of a kind
once in step
now dance different tangos
you and I
now drift in
other directions
trying to get
to the same place
from opposite paths
- Inspired by the poetry line: "We go in different directions down the imperturbable street" - Gwendolyn Brook's An Aspect of Love, Alive in the Ice and Fire.
I get lost in the week days
Mondays run into Thursdays
even the weekends have changed
summer sun is peaking out now
I open my door, closed all spring
get back to the normal groove
yet I confess this new way
does not seem so bad to me
I don’t miss the rat race at all
I wanted to be coy
create a mystery
for you to crack
but a slip of my tongue
revealed all secrets
your eyes danced
seductively in moonlight
a slip of tongue between
my cherry chapstick lips
caused me to fall deep
you can know someone for years
thinking you know them intimately
one day it only takes a slip of the
tongue to know where their hearts
truly lie, shattering glass walls
built on false words, fogging up
rose colored glasses once held dear
