bomba

we watch ladies dance with flowing skirts
to the rhythms of bomba drums
in those swaying bodies we get lost in beats
that takes us back home - an enchanting island
where the tropical sun warms our skin,
away from concrete jungles and suburban houses

- Bomba is a traditional dance and musical style of African roots in Puerto Rico.  Today it is seen as an expressions of Afro-Puerto Rican culture.   You may find more information about this dance here.

    1. I believe you are thinking of "La Bamba", the Mexican folk song which Ritchie Valens made famous with his adaption in 1958. Different lands (Mexico vs Puerto Rico), but both had African influences.

  4. Concrete jungles don't sound very appealing in contrast with this image :)
