I
remember back when
my mom would wear makeup
I barely wear lipstick
leaving imprints on glasses
as
a child I finger painted
in school with colorful hues
smudged across construction paper
now
I paint words across pages
still smudging lines here and there
my mom would wear makeup
I barely wear lipstick
leaving imprints on glasses
in school with colorful hues
smudged across construction paper
still smudging lines here and there

Very beautiful. Love the transitions of each "smudge", first makeup, painting, and then writing. Brilliantly penned! It put a smile on my face.
ReplyDeleteI love the universality of these images and experiences- the mom wearing makeup, the lip prints on glasses, the fingerpainting - and then the transition to writing as an adult. Love this
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and commenting
DeleteVery nice. I like the "painting words across pages" part. I like that analogy. Good memories and examples of smudging here. I also see that you're a Jersey girl. Me too. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you fellow Jersey girl for stopping by
DeleteI like how the child artist transitions to the adult creator of word art.
ReplyDeleteNice examination of the different ways we can use smudges in our lives. I thought of makeup too!
