smudges

I remember back when
my mom would wear makeup
I barely wear lipstick
leaving imprints on glasses

as a child I finger painted
in school with colorful hues
smudged across construction paper

now I paint words across pages
still smudging lines here and there

  1. Very beautiful. Love the transitions of each "smudge", first makeup, painting, and then writing. Brilliantly penned! It put a smile on my face.

  2. I love the universality of these images and experiences- the mom wearing makeup, the lip prints on glasses, the fingerpainting - and then the transition to writing as an adult. Love this

  3. Very nice. I like the "painting words across pages" part. I like that analogy. Good memories and examples of smudging here. I also see that you're a Jersey girl. Me too. :)
