she
wanted to sleep
and
dream of orange
crush
sunsets or
cerulean
blue seas
but
only dark shadows
and
ghastly figures
came
to mind each time
she
closed her eyes
insomnia
would have
been
a better companion
than
the darkness that
plagued her nights
- Written for dVerse Quadrille night! Sleepy times

ReplyDeleteChills. Yes, those dark dreams can be menacing.
ReplyDeleteWhen plagued by one, the other always seems better. Love your opening stanza.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for reading and commentingg
ReplyDeleteYour use of colour is great - the let down as things get darker. I hope she finds some peace.
ReplyDeleteThe fear of nightmares, almost worse than the nightmares themselves ...
ReplyDeleteI hope she can figure out what the dream world is so desperately trying to tell her.
ReplyDeleteThank you again everyone :)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, this describes a lot of ppl, Arcadia... Your words ring very true!
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
David [ben Alexander]
