from
a tiny baby
she
watched her
grow to
an adult
she barely knows
perhaps
she was too
harsh in her rearing
but
she only did
what she thought best
from
afar she watches
her
hatchling spread
her
vast wings, soaring
towards
endless clouds

Hard to know as a Mama, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she can see the vast-winged beauty that she had a hand in raising up to the sky <3
ReplyDeleteThe story of every parent! So hard to see them go, but know they cannot stay!
ReplyDeleteMotherhood is a job well done Maria. The tougher you are, the higher they fly ☺️💕
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to remember that spreading the wings also means for someone else letting go. Touching quadrille.
ReplyDeleteNice. Even this old, childless (I say 'child-free') geezer really digs this piece.
ReplyDeleteit is a wonderful thing to watch your offspring fly. loved this
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone. Although I am not a parent, I imagine that this is something many parents experience.
ReplyDeleteThis has got to be one of the most relatable poems ever, Arcadia. beautifully composed.
