the
tree limbs were covered in ice
under
clear blue skies
I
put on my gloves and scarf
to
play in the fresh snow
that
gifted me a day off from school
inside
the house my mom makes
hot
chocolate to warm my insides
- Written for Quadrille #168 - Ice
Captures the double delight of no school, snow day! And it helps to know there's hot chocolate waiting inside.
ReplyDeleteYummy.
ReplyDeleteNostalgic, sweet and warm, like hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteArcadia - this brings me back to my childhood! :)

I have always been envious of children playing in the snow, Maria, as I had a traumatic experience with it as a child since then have hated having to go out in it. I love drinking hot chocolate while admiring the snow from indoors.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. I started to hate snow when I was an adult and had to drive in it. I'm glad you find something in the poem to like.
