silence
is the blanket
that
covers you when the
world
gets too loud and
the
sun becomes too bright
silence
is the open space
that
lies between the shattering
glass
and booming drum
that
tore us apart
silence
is the nesting bird
in
the tree outside my window
that
lures me out of sleep
to
greet the sunrise again
silence
is the peace
that
lies within my heart
that
I will never be alone
as
long as you are with me

I like how your characterization goes from the general to the specific. It also comes alive with the luring nesting bird <3

ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteMaking a list of silences is almost like saying that there's really no such thing. Except for the totally deaf. And I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane.
DeleteAnonymous is Jane btw.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lisa and also like how your characterization goes from the general to the specific. Silence as a blanket could be a little cliché, but you make it fresh with the addition of the too-loud world and too-bright sun. I really like the ‘open space / that lies between the shattering / glass and booming drum’ and again you make it even more interesting with the addition of ‘that tore us apart’.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim.
DeleteI enjoyed your lovely imagery of silence, Arcadia...especially the nesting bird :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynn.
DeleteBeautiful moments of silence you give us here....and then moving to a more personal space of silence and remembrance. Very nicely rendered.
