in silence

in the silence of a rising sun
I lie in my bed letting
my mind slowly wander

in the quietness of the
morning sun  I take a breath
thankful for another day

my mind prepares for
all that awaits me
when I leave home

  6. I love the quietness of the morning sun too, Maria, and the sibilance in your opening line is like a quiet sizzle – the white noise in our ears when everyone and everything else is asleep.

  9. Nice if you can get it! I don't often linger, preferring to be up and running as quickly as possible. A nice little write Maria 👏

  10. I love that you've written about the silence of a new day's beginning....and being thankful for that. Twelve years ago my husband suffered a 6 minute cardiac arrest - not a heart attack. His heart actually stopped for 6 minutes. He is a walking miracle, alive, well, and cognitively intact. I always have been an early riser....usually at least an hour before him. Since his return from the hospital after that horrendous and frightening occurence, I have always paused a moment before I get up, look over at him sleeping quitely next to me, and am thankful for the new day. Thankful for every day of these 12 extra years I've had with him. So yes....I enjoyed reading your poem about the silence of the new day's opening.
