on the eve of Autumn

today I looked out the window
and saw the gray clouds that
announce autumn’s arrival
and I cannot stop my heart
from grieving the loss of
flowers and hummingbirds
dancing through gardens,
the long hours of daylight
and the warm sun on my skin

  1. I hear ya Arcadia, I am with ya on missing the warm sun, here in the Northwest, the sun is about to go away for a few months! Beautiful poem about the changing seasons! 🩵

  2. This is a beautiful mourning. We're the opposite here in Southern Nevada...the beginnings of Fall are like coming alive again, much like Spring is in winter places. I'm SO ready to be able to go outside without spontaneously combusting!
