a love poem

I wanted this love
to stay young forever
like a bud just breaking
out reaching their arms
up towards the sun

but time waits for no one
our love matures like
our eyes and minds
this love blossoms
like roses in full bloom

the journey takes us
to high and low country
we sometimes got lost
in the mundane roads
or waver when the
storm clouds take over

yet I still cling to hope
that in our twilight
this love will stay
strong and beautiful

midnight sky

midnight sky
will you undress me
with bedroom eyes
one last time
before sunrise returns
our illicit affair
slips into shadows
where hearts burn

touch me, tease me

touch me
with your melodies
let them fall against my skin
tease me
with hypnotic kisses
bringing me into a dream
teach me
those native words
that spring from your tongue
tell me
the words to our song
that we will sing for eternity

but

don’t touch me
if you intend to leave scars
behind when you burn me
don’t tease me
with sweet kisses you
you will collect back at sunrise
don’t teach me
the ways to your heart
when you plan to give it away
don’t tell me
this is forever when
it will only last for one night

Poem for the day:

"elephant in the room"

we begin dancing
around the elephant
in the room
neither one of us
wanting to look it
straight in the eye
so we just dance
like lithe ballerinas
pretending it will
just go away

A second poem for the day:

“did I wait too long?”

did I wait too long
to let you know how I feel
now that you are hers
I can see you are happy

I guess I should keep quiet
Poem for the day:

“you left on a Sunday”

you left on a Sunday
though it seemed like yesterday
that I found myself all alone
with only items you left behind –
leftovers of love that ended unkind
seeing them everyday pains me to the bone
