scars

my mom would heal
my scars with kisses
make all the bumps
and burns feel better
with her simple touch
but now as an adult
when I come home
I no longer have someone
to kiss away these scars
and make them feel better

  1. Awwwww. Those adult moments when we realize we ARE the adult now. This makes me sad.

  2. As we get older we heal others' scars. Nice quadrille.

  3. Alas, the process to heal ourselves is the pain of growing.

  5. You have stirred emotions in me. I miss my mom too, and the innocence and simplicity of childhood, when a kiss from mom could solve everything.

  8. I don't think my mom ever kissed one of my bumps or owies to make it better, but now I have someone at home who does.

  9. And somehow, those adult owies hurt more.

  10. I used to kiss my son's hurts away. It's so hard when a child is 'grown' and on their own. We all need a hug sometimes. :-)
