flicker

I try to hold on to
hope that I will find
you before it's too late
but every passing day
my light flickers like
a distant lighthouse
trying to stay steady
so you may find me
before the night when
my light goes out

  1. Ooh, that's some serious stuff. I like the hope broadcast like the light from the lighthouse. It lends a sense of continuity

  3. The lighthouse metaphor works so well for this, Arcadia. A sense of loss, but of enduring hope.

  5. I agree the lighthouse as a metaphor works great. I just love lighthouses in general. They have such a strong presence leading people where they need to be.

  9. The lighthouse is an apt image to match this expression of hopeful, despairing yearning.

  11. Love me some lighthouses--real & imagined--actual & metaphoric. Your quadrille is very effective, conjuring the white light of hope midst the overcast coastal grayness.

  14. I'm the odd one out here. To me a lighthouse is a warning to steer a different path. It is in that way helpful but never a destination.
