when you fear love

I want to touch
his inner soul
and look deep
into his ocean eyes
but a part of me
is afraid to allow
myself to make
that plunge
my heart won’t
let me dive into
those waves
like last time
when I almost
drowned

  2. I like this! The theme of ocean, water, progresses throughout nicely.

  4. This happens to so many and it's so sad. Next time remember the prompt word should be in the body of the poem. I didn't explain that well.

  7. Ah....once hurt by love it is more difficult to take the plunge/dive again.
Just a note here....when I'm reading your poem, the number in the box of followers obscures words in the beginning of the line that is even with that box. Don't know if this is happening as others see your posts/blog or just on my computer? I remember noticing that last time too....something about the alignment of the way you have the Follow box?

  9. Once burned, it is difficult to be vulnerable again, but it's necessary to be open to new love. Great write!

  10. drowning in his eyes...I did that once. But years later I got over my fear of love. And love is a fearful thing.

  13. Fearing the drowning...I can relate to that! Love is a risk, and risk is fearful. But truly to love is worth it, even when not returned
