when
we were young and carefree
we
wrote poems in the sky
watching
them float away
like
clouds on a summer day
as
we grew older we drifted apart
like
boats lost at sea after a storm
but
I am still here poeming away
- Written for dVerse Quadrille: Poem One for Me
I love the thought of writing poems in the sky though for me the sky does the writing. Sad when lovers drift apart.

ReplyDeleteNice comparison with youthful clouds and seasoned boats in poetry.
ReplyDeleteThat's all we can do, but it makes a difference.
ReplyDeletelovely lightness and yet tinged with wistfulness too .... this has an easy feeling about it :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so poignant. I guess with time our poems change and show different hues and shades.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone.
