she would glow
like the moon
in a clear night sky
her inner flame
brighter than sun’s
rays in summer
despite naysayers
and mobs who
tried to tear her
tried to tear her
limb from limb
she held her head
up high, keeping
her eyes on the prize
- Written for dVerse Quadrille - There's a Shine to the Season!
I'm reminded of the book title, "A Woman of Substance" - bless her determination.
ReplyDeleteHer inner flame will not be snuffed.
ReplyDeleteThey don't understand what fuels the inner flame or they wouldn't bother trying to diminish it. Naysayers and mobs are driven by their demons. I like that light described as a "glow like the moon in a clear sky night."
ReplyDeleteah! such an empowered poem this is!
ReplyDeleteI like the thought of holding one's head high with eyes on the prize.
ReplyDeleteLuv her focus and strength

As she should - such a brave woman.
ReplyDeleteA great combination: ‘inner flame brighter than sun’s rays in summer’ and glowing determination!
ReplyDeleteMay there be many who manage to keep warm by such flame.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your kind words :)
ReplyDeleteHolding your head high, and knowing what you prize is winning. Beautiful, Arcadia!
