I
watched the golden leaves
shiver and fall into messy piles
my cool hands gathered them
into bags under cobalt sky
now
I watch falling snow
blanketing those limbs
that were once full of life
my heart is cold but is
looking towards spring
shiver and fall into messy piles
my cool hands gathered them
into bags under cobalt sky
blanketing those limbs
that were once full of life
my heart is cold but is
looking towards spring
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #144: Shivering!
We have the same snow scene outside. I look forward to the spring season.

ReplyDeleteThe season of gathering in and waiting for spring.
ReplyDeleteSeems we're always anticipating the next season :)
ReplyDeleteThe first stanza reads like Wordsworth...lovely whimsical poetry, really like the meter/rhythm..
ReplyDeleteLove the lyricism in your hopeful verse!
ReplyDeleteI hope your heart thaws soon, Arcadia - this was poignantly written.
ReplyDeleteSincerely,
David [ben Alexander]
anticipation will help it thaw, lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone :)
ReplyDeleteThe long, bleak and seemingly endless winter months can surely take its toll. Hopefully spring will show up sooner than later this year to help thaw your cold heart. Beautifully done, Arcadia Maria!
ReplyDeleteLovely and lyrical. I'm waiting for spring, too.
ReplyDeleteI love this spill of seasons passing, looking forward to the next, but noticing the gorgeous details of the current one.
