throughout the house

on Saturday afternoons

while helping with chores

the voices of R&B imprinting

on my mind and heart

I still listen to music

now on different devices

rather than the radio

yet still soothes my soul

stone heart

this heart carries a stone

where a rose once bloomed

where memories were stored

but now diminished into shadows

 

this heart carries tears

left behind after heartbreak

after we lost the sun

leaving on the moonlight

 

this heart carries a dream

that never bore fruit

it remains an unripe seed

spending eternity in the dark
