while in line at Starbucks

she stands in line at Starbucks
listening to a woman in front
of her ordering a latte

behind her a group of teens
jabber about something
on their phones

in the mist of noise
she thinks back to her own
youthful days and smile

  2. Arcadia you made me think of my young and teen years. My friends and I talking for hours on the phone, cord wrapped around hand. What was there so much to talk about back then?

  3. You captured a familiar scenario in your quadrille, Maria, not that I go to Starbucks, but people jabbering on phones are everywhere. We didn’t have them in my youth, but we still jabbered. My parents didn't have a phone, so I just made sure my pocket was full of coins and walked to the nearest red phone box.

  4. Maybe things were more similar than we dare to remember... so happy that they are meeting IRL
