she stands in line at Starbucks
listening to a woman in front
of her ordering a latte
behind her a group of teens
jabber about something
on their phones
in the mist of noise
she thinks back to her own
youthful days and smile
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #229 -Shall we Jabber On?

Thanks De.
DeleteArcadia you made me think of my young and teen years. My friends and I talking for hours on the phone, cord wrapped around hand. What was there so much to talk about back then?
ReplyDeleteNot sure but we did it anyway. Haha. Thanks for reading.
DeleteA lovely vignette!

Thanks Gillena.
DeleteYou captured a familiar scenario in your quadrille, Maria, not that I go to Starbucks, but people jabbering on phones are everywhere. We didn’t have them in my youth, but we still jabbered. My parents didn't have a phone, so I just made sure my pocket was full of coins and walked to the nearest red phone box.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading Kim.
DeleteMaybe things were more similar than we dare to remember... so happy that they are meeting IRL
