late summer at the pool

late summer sun
children at play
their laughter loud
their forms reflect
across blue waters

sipping cold lemonade
lounging by pools
she savors relaxation
before autumn’s arrival
with her routines

  1. Arcadia, your first stanza describes our afternoon at Meijer Gardens today. They have a kids area and the little ones were enjoying chase and hide and seek in the late summer sun. Beautiful poem about then and now.

  2. Common around here too. We used to have that with our granddaughter but her parents bought a pool and ours isn't used. I miss them.

  3. I love the change from late summer freedom to autumn’s routines, Maria.

  4. Sounds a bit melancholic when we enter autumn.
