sevenling: spring blossoms

we lounge under cherry trees
in blossoming hues of white,
light pink and reddish pink

we listen to sounds of spring –
chirping birds, children laughing,
the ice cream truck’s jingle

if only this season would last forever

- This poem was inspired by dVerse Haibun MOnday: first (cherry) blossoms.  I wrote my poem as sevenling rather than a haibun poem.

cherry blossoms

cherry blossoms dance
in the breeze under blue sky
as spring sun smiles

Spring

those blossoming flowers
could conjure up such
poetic words so easily
buzzing bees my muses,
as words flow smoothly
across my pages

if only the season
could last lifetimes
I would fill volumes
of various loving words
but I know now that
each season has its place

one cannot appreciate
warm happiness without
feeling a bit of cold pain

when Spring is late

my roses struggle to bloom
for winter has Spring entombed
tell me the sun will return
its warmth is what I now yearn

spring me

spring me
into dreams
into fields
of blooming
flowers

spring me
out of darkness
into days when
the sun lingers
a bit longer

spring me
into new love
into warm arms
that will make
me feel safe

chase away
winter blues
that want to
hold my heart
a bit longer

buds of Spring

on a Spring morning
buds begin to break through vines
for you have return
to warm my ice cold heart that
has been weeping since autumn

birds sing melodies
our garden blooms once again
please just stay with me
let us chase the sun and moon
into summer’s horizons
