sevenling: love crime

for his love she was willing
to give up her family, her
dreams and her sanity

when his love broke her,
she grabbed her gun,
a shovel and her car keys

sometimes love is deadly

sevenling: traveling shoes

these shoes have ridden many
buses, trains and airplanes

they have touch the pavements of
New York City, Las Vegas and Paris

these shoes have seen the world

sevenling: snow

as a child snow meant
no school, making a snowman
and hot chocolate drinks

as an adult snow means
slow drivers, shoveling sidewalks
and interrupted schedules

but fresh snow’s beauty never fades

sevenling: things to do

things I loathe to do:  doing laundry,
paying bills, listening to political talk

things I would rather do: write poetry,
vacation in the Caribbean, fall in love

perhaps life will let me do both

sevenling: spring blossoms

Courtesy of pexels.com

we lounge under cherry trees
in blossoming hues of white,
light pink and reddish pink

we listen to sounds of spring –
chirping birds, children laughing,
the ice cream truck’s jingle

if only this season would last forever

- This poem was inspired by dVerse Haibun MOnday: first (cherry) blossoms.  I wrote my poem as sevenling rather than a haibun poem.

Sevenling: happiness

things that make me mad:
rainy Mondays, computer glitches
and political scandals

things that make me happy:
hugging my parents, watching movies
and vanilla iced lattes

the happiness gets me through the day

sevenling: ghost

I believed we had a spark:
the way you smiled, the morning
texts, long walks in the park

when I asked to level us up:
texts ceased, no more dates
or just because flower gifts

I guess it was easier to ghost me

sevenling: predictions

things we find predictable:
using heat in winter, taxes going up,
a child’s joy on Christmas morning

things we find unpredictable:
the weather, winning lottery numbers,
the end of a love affair

but it all makes life a bit interesting

Him: Sevenling

when I think of you
I remember the firsts:
eyewinks, crushes and kisses

in time memories changed
to longings, fleeting liaisons
and unfulfilled dreams

I guess it wasn’t meant to be

sevenling: fear

what used to bring fear to me:
the dark, monsters under the
bed and dogs.

it took a long time to get over
heights, highway driving
and trying new things.

but I still fear spending my life alone.

"Sevenling: Making wishes”

I made wishes
upon moon, stars
even the sun

searched for promises
in mountains, valleys
exotic islands

I found my answers in you

Poem for this evening:

sevenling: the door

standing before the door
wondering, second-guessing,
contemplating

to enter the unknown
feeling anxiety, despair
mixed with sadness

I stand here indecisive

Poem for today:

sevenling: things left unsaid

she always told him how much
she loved him. he made her smile
and she was so happy

what she never told him was
she was afraid.  had dark secrets
and may lose him one day

so she covered everything with loving words

Poem for today - a Sevenling poem:

she was many things
loving wife. doting mother.
the very best sister.

what they didn’t know
she cried. felt worthless.
second guessed her choices.

yet still, on the outside, she smiled.
