two steps forward

three steps back

it is a slow dance

I find myself in

way too often

the color of the

sky at dusk

makes me hunger

for your eyes

lying beside me

but this tango

we’ve been dancing

never ceases

always leaving me

with two left feet

in my dreams we

are a perfect harmony

one day I’ll need to 

let such dreams go

but not this night

waiting...

a year waiting

becomes two

three, four, five

how long

should I wait

until it’s time

to throw in

the towel

a hello

can turn

into a date

form into love

even blossom

into marriage

if the cards

fall into place

I wait under

summer suns

winter moons

hoping love

will come soon

for this wait

has worn me

down a bit

I wanted you

I always watched you from afar

like a star that I could not reach

how I wanted to be in your light

and be the one in your heart

I wanted you to look at me

like you looked at her, who was not me

how my heart ached every night

that you were unattainable

then the stars somehow aligned

and we crossed paths once more

this time I caught your eyes

now in your arms, made up dreams

becoming reality, so I close my eyes

to imprint this to memory
