"wishes and dreams in jars"
I placed my wishes and dreams in jars
hoping one day to open the lids
releasing them into the sky
flying like fireflies at dusk
but the time never seemed right
I held them for so long
that one day it was too late
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #14 - Jar.
Oh so tragic... almost like preserve going bad... so sad.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww. This is deeply, tragically sad. The out-date is so important on all jars, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWe always released the firefly nightlights the next morning so they wouldn't die. Dreams? not sure. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. Our own fears prevent so many dreams from being fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteTiming is everything, I guess. We've all missed those opportunities. Live and learn.
ReplyDeleteawww. a beautiful yet so sad poem. <3
ReplyDeleteWaiting for the right time always ends up being too late for me. Your sobering message is deeply felt.
ReplyDeleteOh...too bad. We must not save those wishes and dreams for a rainy day as that day may never come. Very poignant a lesson here.
ReplyDeleteSweetly sad.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear. A lesson to be learned in this one.
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches from this. A powerful piece, Arcadia!
