she could hear the giggles
coming from the dark room
knowing full well they
would not fall asleep so fast
it brought back forgotten
memories when she and her
sibling would giggle under
the night stars not so long
ago when time stood still
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #27 in which we are tasked to write a quadrille poem containing the word "giggle". Come join in on the fun.
I LOVE when my (now teen) kids still giggle between their two rooms. This is a great slice of life.
ReplyDeleteYouth does seem the time for giggles and time standing still.
ReplyDeleteSounds like us when we were kids, hiding under the covers with flashlights, reading comic books after lights out. This verse really brings it back to me, thanks
ReplyDeleteIt does seem that we poets keep track of our child within; nice job.
ReplyDeleteI love the flood of memories this poem produced. My sister and I giggled every night, with stern warnings from Mom.
ReplyDeleteMaybe giggles is what bridge the generations best.
ReplyDeleteYou bring back so many childhood memories with this.. sigh lovely!!❤️

ReplyDeleteLove the memories evoked. Long live giggles!
ReplyDeleteKind regards
