silver tongue

the words flowed
from your tongue
like silver daggers
piercing the inner
part of my soul
when mom said
only sticks and
stones can break
my bones
she must never
had a bully
scandalize her name
forced her into
cocoons to hide from
classmates’ eyes
trying so hard
to be invisible
but the predators
still find you
in those fields
of lavender where
I thought I was
safe from harm
no these words
flowing off silver
tongues do more
damage than
sticks or stones
the mob can
throw at me

  1. What a sad poem. But lovely visuals in this and imagery....words...like silver daggers. Perfect!

  2. Words can hurt and bullying seems to be everywhere. Sad when there's no haven to be had.

One often falls into the trap of saying things we are sorry for!
