with hope
I released you
into the wind
with prayers that
you would find
your way back
to my arms
every night
I sang to the moon
counting the years
that have passed
yet you have
not returned
maybe I should
just give up
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #42 "hope"

ReplyDeleteAwwww. I hope not. Never ever give up.
ReplyDeleteWhen you give up, that's when they return.

But still hope is there and it will always be there............
ReplyDeleteOh, don't give up - hang on to that hope a little longer.
ReplyDelete...and you've spent all that time waiting ... maybe it's just time for new beginnings! I HOPE so. Evocative write.
ReplyDeleteI think sometimes hope is hopeless actually... maybe we should renew the hope for something (or someone) else.
ReplyDeleteYou can't give up after singing to the moon! There are rules against that!
ReplyDeleteI like that the speaker seems to be riding the precipice between hope and despair, which is always a precarious place to navigate.
Thank you everyone :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes we can only hope for what is best....but singing to the moon, that is magical.
