sometimes I wish the rain would go away
and let the sun come out and play yet there have been times in drought
I prayed the heavens open up and
release its tears upon our parched tongues
I guess I'm never satisfied with either
- Written for dVerse Quadrille #57: Don't rain on my parade
releasing tears upon parched tongues - vivid image!
ReplyDeleteWhen the weather is extreme, its hard to be satisfied~
ReplyDeleteI hear you, rain, rain go away, come again some other day. People here get so bent about the lack of rain. We're less than a hundred miles from the desert. (actually, I just hate to cut grass).
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have both gently spaced out.
ReplyDeleteI love the ambiguity of rain that is conveyed in your Quadrille - gentle and patient. I especially love the lines:
ReplyDelete'I prayed the heavens open up and
release its tears upon our parched tongues'.
We are so often ungrateful to what the weather has to offer... maybe we should just accept it as it is...
ReplyDeleteJust like us farmers here in Iowa...sigh
ReplyDeleteThis is so tender... so touching!
ReplyDeleteWe often want what we don't have, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI like the rhythm of this.
An honest pondering. If only we had control of the rain....but I suppose Mother Nature has her own agenda.
