removing leftover crumbs

dishes and not listen
to
the reality of life
once
while washing dishes
she let
her mind wander
to
the thought of him
and
his touch – wondering
what
went wrong and why
he doesn’t
call anymore
no, she
told herself
instead
listen to the bad news
on
the television instead of
allowing
her mind to linger
on
love gone lost
as
she washed dishes
she
tried to scrub away
the mundaneness
of life away
to
reveal its cleanliness
and
renewed hope for
something
better

I like the idea of scrubbing away the mundaneness in these lines: "she tried to scrub away

Quite wonderful to let the reader wander in the mind of this person as she is washing dishes, scrubbing...a mundane task that allows the mind to wander, focus here and there....and then focusing it to concentrate on hope as the grime and crumbs are scrubbed away.
