I did not think it
would be this hard
I was ready to
throw my arms up
and just walk away
let the puzzle pieces
fall in whatever place
but my heart was too
invested to just let go
so I keep pushing on

Indeed. I have felt this, deeply.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is good to be too invested.
ReplyDeleteThis is a feeling I know well. My husband and I spent a total of one week together in person before we moved in together. No dates, plenty of phone calls and emails, but 1600 miles between us. So many times I wanted to give up, but somehow I couldn't. And so glad I didn't! There's a time to give up, and a time not to... Great piece and well written. <3
ReplyDeleteI know this well too. Sometimes it is just hard to let go after a lot of emotional investment.
ReplyDeleteAs the song goes "ya goota know when to hold'em, know when to fold'em" Well written
ReplyDeleteThis might be the contemplation stage of change...
ReplyDeletePushong on to success Arcadia - bravo!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of committing to someone and seeing the investment pay going forward!
ReplyDeleteThis is often good, but sometimes it's better to give up.
ReplyDeleteI like the switch from past to present in the final line. It brings the poem to a point.
ReplyDeleteI feel this poem deeply!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have felt such conflicts in the heart. You portray it well!
ReplyDeleteYes - pushing on - well said! I've been there too.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your kind words. :)
ReplyDeleteI believe many of us have felt this way. It can be quite challenging to keep pushing on.
