remembrance

I wish I could remember
the sound of your voice
the softness of your hands
but the years since you
closed your eyes keeps
growing wider than a sea
memories dissipating like
fog in the morning light

  1. I like the yearning to continue remembering in spite of those years growing wider.

  2. There's truth there, that longing to remember. Then sometimes a memory just sparks out of nowhere.

  3. Yes, voices melt away first, then other things follow 'like
fog in the morning light'. But sometimes, when we get a flash, we cling on to a memory for days.

  6. Beautifully said and it resonates deeply. I've always wished I had a video or recording of my loved one's voices, to never forget.

  7. I know this well... maybe there is shame in the fact that we go on and forget... but it's truly just a way to cope.
