as we fell
as we fell
into dreams
I knew then
this affair
would be my
undoing
still I took
the leap with
open eyes

hair
when I was young
my hair was thick,
curly and wild
I often wished it
was tamer with
smooth strands
now that I am older
time and nature
thinning many
of those strands
I often look back
wishing I still had
those thick curls

under moonlight
under moonlight
hypnotic melodies
caresses my ears
turning me into
a connoisseur
of stardust and
indigo dreams

across the room
across the room
you stand
a light among
dark shadows
I reach out
to touch
the soft strands
of your hair
you disappear
like a ghost
through fingers
a cold mist
it was a dream
stuck in heart
so please don’t
ever awake me

treading
we tread the waters
as if we’re frighten
one missed step will
lead to our doom
when did love get
so complicated?
I write poem about
the moon and stars
love as the sun
on a summer day
if only love
was
just so simple
winter evening skies
can be beautiful
yet can be as cold
as a broken heart
perhaps love wasn’t
meant to be simple

roar
they try to roar
over the white noise
to get their concerns
heard for once
but over and over
they are denied
their place at the table
by the powerful
yet we cannot let
our voices drown
but make them rise
and topple mountains

oxygen
I rose from ashes
taking my first breath
air filling my lungs
opening my eyes
to a brand new light

the beginning of something
rose bulbs slowly open up
allowing the sun’s rays to
reach its core that was closed
all winter to block out icy chills
just like my heart I slowly
expand my petals inviting
new light to enter its chambers
believing in love once again

when trust is lost
apologies
cling to trees
like leaves in
late autumn
my tears fall
like snowflakes
in January clinging
to branches
we sit in silence
waiting for words
to break the ice
between us
forgiveness lies
within the heart
but the tongue still
burns from betrayal
