in September we say goodbye

it seems as though you are still summer
despite autumn taking hold
I don’t want to let you go
but time is not waiting
I give you a kiss
the leaves turn brown
days grow short
and nights
long

The first line of this poem, "it seems as though you are still summer" comes from the poem "To The Light of September" by W.S. Merlin.

  1. Ooh, this is quite lovely and it has themes of romanticism and longing in it. But, it ends with that good-bye eventually. Brilliant piece.
