in November

November
tumbling autumn leaves
cobalt sky
we linger
stretching out the time we have
before darkness falls

as the seasons change

late summer
the sun fades sooner
crisp mornings
turning leaves
I bid farewell to summer
as autumn arrives

we place dreams

we place dreams
in the full moon’s hands
count the stars
chasing sun
across the horizons that
beckons us to run

from grief to healing

the warm sun
does nothing to ease
painful grief
gripping heart
in time my brokenness mends
to find light again

heart of the poet

she poems
with all of her heart
penning words
in notepads
with each line she feels closer
in finding her voice

the old house

the old house
held such dark secrets
in shadows
they all lurk
until the witching hour
to open my door

the belief
in ghosts never held
a strong hold
within me
until the summer night when
I smelled your perfume

it was you –
no doubt in my mind
through gateways
you returned
what it to check up on us
or just to pass time?

or maybe
you felt something dark
taking hold
in my mind
your presence was able to
push darkness away
