before autumn departs

the sun dips from the sky

earlier now, leaving us an

indigo sky before darkness

takes over

trees that once serenaded us

in red, orange and brown

now shed their leaves

dropping their veils

mornings no longer warm

but now have a crisp chill

we bundle in coats lamenting

the departing of the season

under skies

cobalt blue

the leaves fall

in hues of

orange, red

yellow, brown

and my heart

thinks of you 

that last kiss

now fading

away like

summer’s bliss

tumbling like leaves

we tumble
        like autumn leaves
outstretched hands
        attempt to
catch us before
        we hit the ground

yet we glide
        around the trees
sing melodies
        as the ground
grows closer

we lie in piles
        of red, orange
and yellow stars
        crisp blue sky
stares down
        at our sighs

October afternoon

we sat side by side

sipping lattes 

while dogs in jackets 

walk by 

 

under autumn sun 

the golden leaves 

shower our heads 

like raindrops 

 

we walk hand in hand 

towards setting sun 

the moon waits  

behind clouds
