on the beach we sat
side by side
watching the sunset
hand in hand
we counted down
the time
we still had together
this night
for you would be gone
by tomorrow
I will still be here with
our promises
to never forget these days
and short nights
Oh....summer love. So sweet and delectable, until the days dwindle down.
ReplyDeleteLovely post.
Nice parting love song.
ReplyDeleteSo many september songs played through my head... not to mention Dear John songs. Good work with this creative piece.

ReplyDeleteThis poem follows on so well from Alison's about dementia. Does the past disappear when we forget?
ReplyDeleteI've never experienced one (or more) of those brief but powerful summer romances that cling us so tightly to another. But I do know how our emotions can carry us away and bond us with our memories.
ReplyDeleteSweet...hold on to those short summer memories ~
ReplyDeleteLet's hear it for summer loves. So bittersweet for the young. Smiles and memories here.
